White opinions on Malcolm X are irrelevant

[edit]

"A controversial figure accused of preaching racism and violence" - really? Not sure I see the relevance of what white American racists had to say about Malcolm, nor why it's even in the opening paragraphs of the article. 159.196.64.36 (talk) 22:24, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Many black leaders said similar things about MX. EEng 00:22, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Encyclopedias are descriptive and objective, and don't subscribe to the idea that as some kind of rule we cannot document what particular notable human beings have contended about other particular notable human beings. The reader can decide what they want to believe, or how they conduct themselves culturally or politically. Stefen Towers among the rest! GabGruntwerk 16:17, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Islamophobia

[edit]

'In the 1960s, Malcolm X began to grow disillusioned with the Nation of Islam, as well as with its leader, Elijah Muhammad.'

Why would you use the word disillusioned in this context. It's Islamophobic and has a negative non objective pretext. Please correct, in a informative an objective manner. 2001:1C08:783:E100:2F3D:A2C5:1F95:EED6 (talk) 22:24, 9 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It's a statement about a subjective feeling that a person objectively had. Healpa12 (talk) Healpa12 (talk) 16:04, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Legacy - biased?

[edit]

Addressing Malcolm X as one of the "greatest" African-Americans in history seems both vague and extremely opinionated.

This entire section appears to be wholly positive, whereas more Americans have an unfavorable (34%) opinion of Malcolm X than those who have a positive (32%) opinion of him. This needs significant editing to take into account potential effects which his rhetoric and actions have had on racial division, new antisemitism, etc. 163.151.225.45 (talk) 16:42, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The final paragraph of the "Allegations of Conspiracy" subsection within the "Assassination" section discusses the Shabazz family's plans to sue the CIA, FBI, NYPD, and other agencies for their role in Malcolm X's assassination. As of yesterday, 15 November 2024, the lawsuit's filing was announced. Below is my proposed revision of the paragraph.

On Februrary 21st, 2023, the 58th anniversary of Malcolm X's assassination, members of his family announced that they were planning to file a $100 million wrongful death lawsuit against the CIA, FBI, NYPD, and others for allegedly concealing evidence related to his death and their alleged involvement in it[1]. On November 15th, 2024, three of Malcolm X's daughters, along with his estate, filed the lawsuit in Manhattan federal court, which claims that the agencies knew of the assassination plot and failed to stop it[2]. During the press conference that announced the filing, Attorney Benjamin Crump, who is representing the family, stated that they have been collecting and discovering evidence for the last three years, including evidence from people "who [have] never spoken before about what they witnessed during... the 1960s"[2].
